THERE were celebrations for a member of staff at Pershore High School when she was awarded an AAT Diploma in accountancy and in turn inspired her own children.
Maria Fiander was delighted to attend the graduation ceremony at Worcester Cathedral where she was presented with the award and is also now a Member of the Association of Accountancy Technicians.
The 48-year-old grandmother who lives in Hampton, near Evesham, said: "I started at Pershore High School in 2003 working as a library and reprographics assistant.
"But my career has changed since I have been here. I felt I needed some formal qualification and I am grateful to the school for allowing me this opportunity.
"It was nice my three children and four-year-old grandson could come and see me. I know my daughter said to me I have been an inspiration to her.
"I hope I can do the same for other people."
