HUNDREDS of walkers of all ages and abilities trekked the length of a marathon across the pretty Worcestershire countryside to raise thousands of pounds for an air ambulance charity.

More than 400 people took part in the Rock Pound the Bounds event on Sunday, May 13, walking a range of routes around the Wyre Forest.

The annual event, which started from the village hall in Rock, near Bewdley, raised £5,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity– enough to fund two missions.

Event organiser Henk Buzink said he was delighted by how successful the event, now in its 15th year, had proved.

“After a damp beginning, the weather turned out to be perfect on the day and I can’t thank enough the group of more than 50 people who helped stage the event and everyone who took part,” he said.

“We even had local residents offering food and drink from the end of their driveways to the walkers who were going past.”
