SIR Mick Jagger made a return visit to the Cotswolds when he and Jerry Hall attended the wedding blessing of their son, James, to Anoushska Sharma at Cornwell Manor, in Chipping Norton.

The Rolling Stones' front man had stayed at the manor many years ago and its picturesque and private setting was chosen by his son's bride as a perfect location.

The family, accompanied by Jerry Hall's new husband Rupert Murdoch, hired the 2,000-acre estate venue for the weekend and shared the wedding celebration on April 23 with 250 guests. The celebration followed James and Anoushka's wedding in New York, in September.

The bride wore a white gown adorned with lace, while her husband opted for a bright blue suit with a patterned shirt.

Sir Mick, 72, paired his green suit with a black and white patterned shirt, while Ms Hall chose a print dress, a light blue overcoat and a dark blue hat.

The younger Jagger, 30, is said to prefer a private life, but the profile of the musician turned actor has risen considerably since he signed on for HBO drama Vinyl.

In the gritty series revolving around the sex, drugs and rock and roll of the music scene in the 1970s, Jagger plays Kip Stevens, a rebellious British singer.

Sir Mick and Martin Scorsese are the executive producers of the New York-set drama.

Charlotte Boston, of Cornwell Manor said: "It was a lovely occasion and the weather stayed fine. The family had two marquees, one for the blessing and another in the walled garden for a late night party."

The manor, which dates back to Jacobean times with an early Georgian frontage, has recently had its ballroom refurbished and is holding a free-to-attend wedding fair on Saturday May 7 between 11am and 4pm. The gardens, which are not usually open to the public, will also be opened for the day. Again, there is no entry charge but donations may be made towards the estate's St Peter's Church.
