A MYSTERY surrounding what appear to be lights shining on top of Evesham's newly restored bell tower may have been solved.

A Journal reader has forwarded a photograph of four shiny objects that look like lights on top of the building. The tower has recently seen the scaffolding removed following months of restoration work costing £500,000 and it now stands in Abbey Park in all its glory.

A quick call to Sue Ablett, chair of the bell tower committee which ran the appeal, confirmed it is likely to be the sun reflecting on the newly gilded weathervanes sitting on top of each of the four main spires.
