EVESHAM Slimming World members have raised £800 for Cancer Research UK thanks to a Race for Life event.
The nationwide fundraiser, held through July and August, saw slimmers and others in Evesham lacing up their trainers to complete the circular route starting from Hampton Ferry and continuing along the riverside.
Apart from acquiring vital funds for the charity, around 75 people along with the spectators raised awareness of how a healthy weight improves wellbeing and reduces the risk of developing cancer.
Event organiser and consultant, Ali Saunders, said: "It was a fantastic event – the atmosphere was electric! "Everyone was so supportive of each other, just as they are whenever the group gets together, and we saw young, old, male and female participants enter, all with a broad range of abilities and fitness levels."
Sue Fairfax, one of the members, said: "Since losing weight, I’m feeling much healthier, happier and more confident – I’m so proud of myself and I know my fellow group members, friends and family are too"
