A SEASONAL picture to lead off our latest collection of pictures from the past in our nostalgia series in the Evesham and Cotswold Journals.

We don't know if conker collecting is still as popular as it used to be but the children of Cleeve Prior Primary School certainly set to their task with gusto, collecting thousands of them.

Meanwhile, Jess Bird, of Home-Start South Worcestershire got in touch after seeing a picture last week of the organisation's first birthday.

She said: "It was lovely to see the picture in the 'Vale and Cotswold in the past' article, showing a first birthday celebration at Hampton village hall in 2002 for the Home-Start charity.

"Things have changed in the charity world during the last 20 years, but as Home-Start South Worcestershire we are still offering a volunteer befriending service to families in the Evesham area.

"As we return to nearer normal following the last year’s restrictions, we are now in need of new volunteers to support the families who are coming to us for help with the many challenges of family life.

"If any of your readers have parenting experience, and can spare two or three hours once a week to visit a local family, we will be delighted to hear from them."

You can contact Jess on 0190529377 or email jbird@homestartsw.org.uk to find out more.

In the meantime, here are some more great pictures.

Perhaps you have your own nostalgia pictures of Evesham, Pershore and the surrounding villages, or in the Cotswolds?

Whatever form they take, we’d love to see them and help you share them with your fellow readers.
