THE flood alert for the River Avon at Wyre Piddle, Strensham and Bredon has been upgraded to the higher flood warning.
That means flooding is no longer just possible but expected with people warned to take immediate action.
The warning, issued at 7.30am this morning, (December 5), says: "River levels are rising at the Evesham river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.
"Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue.
"We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in Wyre Piddle including Wyre Piddle caravan park.
"Eckington Road impassable.
"Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and avoid contact with flood water."
The rest of the river, including Offenham, Evesham, Twyning and the Eckington Road, remains at a flood alert level.
A new flood warning has been issued for the River Severn after the heavy rain of recent days.
The Environment Agency has issued the alert saying the river levels are rising as a result of heavy rainfall.
We have been tracking the rise of the river. On Sunday morning the level at Barbourne gauge was 0.77 metres but 48 hours later, at 8am this morning, it is now at 3.42m. Alerts are issued on that section when the level goes above 3.35m.
The alert says: "Flooding is possible - be prepared
"Flooding of roads and farmland is possible.
"We expect flooding to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent the river from Highley to Tewkesbury.
"Locations affected are Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke, Upton upon Severn, South Quay, Diglis Parade and Hylton Road towpath.
"Flooded drains may affect the racecourse and Worcester County Cricket Ground.
"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours with further heavy rain Wednesday overnight into Thursday.
"We expect river levels to remain high until Thursday. We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Please plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers and avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses."
And a flood alert remains on Barbourne Brook.
