STAFF and students at King Edward VI College in Stourbridge were trying to get back to lessons today (Tuesday) following the shock death of a teacher who collapsed at work.
Jane Reason, subject leader for business studies, suffered a cardiac arrest last Thursday (April 28) at the Lower High Street college.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and the West Midland CARE Team to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 12.51pm – and a spokesman said: “Ambulance staff immediately began CPR and commenced advanced life support.”
The 57-year-old teacher, who had worked at the college since 2001, was rushed to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital – with treatment continuing en-route, but she was later pronounced dead.
As a mark of respect – college bosses cancelled timetabled classes on Friday (April 29) and invited grieving staff members and students to a service of remembrance for the tragic teacher, who was described by college principal Remley Mann as a “respected colleague”.
Lessons were due to resume as normal today (Tuesday May 3) – the college confirmed.
