FIREFIGHTERS were called to the vacant Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre after a fire broke out last night (July 25).

Two Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Kidderminster fire station attended the incident, in Bromsgrove Street, at around 8.55pm.

On crews arrival, they found that there was a fire at the rear door.

West Mercia Police confirmed the fire was at the Glades Leisure Centre building.

Speculation on social media said that the fire was at the former Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre, which closed its doors for the final time earlier this month, following 30-years of service.

A post on Facebook page 'Kidderminster Matters' stated that there was firefighters, Wyre Forest District Council representatives and police at the former leisure centre last night (July 25).

A spokesman for HWFRS confirmed they attended a fire at a property in Bromsgrove Street, but could not confirm whether it was the former Glades Leisure Centre building.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call officers on 101, quoting incident reference number 763S of July 25.
