EVESHAM United boss Paul Collicutt was delighted to finish the campaign on a high and is on a mission to add “depth” to his squad for next season.

The Robins rounded off their Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West programme with a comfortable 3-0 win at Marlow last Saturday.

Karnell Chambers, Clayton Green and Matt Sysum netted for the Robins, who finished sixth in the table, just one place and two points shy of the play-offs.

Evesham had a better goal difference than Winchester City in fifth but paid for a slow start to the season.

“We had a really good run with 11 wins from 13 matches but left ourselves too much to do in the end,” said Collicutt.

“It has been a good season. We have kept 20 clean sheets, scored 92 league goals and played some fantastic football at times.

“It’s disappointing to have missed out on the play-offs after reaching them last season.

“We finished on a high note by beating Marlow but our undoing came in our first 10 games when we didn’t score in five of them.”

Collicutt says he’s very happy at the Jubilee Stadium and is keen to build on the work he has put into the club over the past few seasons.

“When I took the job, I said it would be a marathon, not a sprint, and we have had two good seasons after finishing 16th in my first year,” he said.

“I am very happy at the club, like the people and we have got some good players.

“I am going to relax for a week or so before I start speaking to a few players and trying to arrange friendlies.

“We went to Marlow with only three substitutes because we had injuries and I would like to see if we can get some depth in the squad but there’s only so much the budget will stretch to.

“This is a mad time between now and the start of training when you start speaking to players and I would like to bring a few in.”
