SANDRA Insall won the Avon Cup for Evesham ladies playing off handicaps of 29 to 36 with 39 points.

In fine weather, Conryn Abbott was second with 37 and Penny Osborne third out of 15 players on 34 in the stableford.

Eighteen ladies played for the Craycombe Trophy at the Fladbury course with a maximum handicap of 28.

Sandra Piovesana (pictured above with captain Abbott), who came over from Italy, triumphed with 38 points, while Carolyn Washbourne was second on count-back from Marlene Billings with both on 35.

Lila Baily’s All Comers Trophy was played for by 28 ladies with no handicap restriction.

Joan Hunt won with 37 points but close on her tail with 36 was Lesley Curnock and Melanie Evans finished third.

Meanwhile, The Vale ladies competed for the Lily Brennan Memorial Trophy around 18 holes on a fine summer’s day.

The trophy was donated by Mike Brennan, founder member Lily’s son, who also donated the prizes.

The stableford was played in threes with one score to count on the first hole, two on the second and three on the third.

Seventeen teams competed and the entry money of £4 was donated to St Richard’s Hospice.

Mary Yates, Margaret McCaig and Annameike Phillips won with 82 points.

They were followed by Isabelle Green, Margaret Houlcroft and Sandie Seager on 81.

Shelagh Inglis, Deb Langham, Pearl Winchester finished third on 80.
