IT proved to be a frustrating evening for Pershore Town on Tuesday as they suffered a shock league defeat at Tuffley Rovers.

Having crashed out of the FA Vase after their 5-0 thumping by Shirebrook Town on Saturday, the Plums made it two losses in four days in Gloucestershire on a difficult night for Lewis Marston's men.

Tuffley were proving a tough nut to crack in the first-half but Aidan Clark's goal five minutes before the break finally gave Pershore the lead.

But it did not last as Jake Rhodes' diving header into the bottom corner pulled the hosts level on the stroke of half-time.

Into the second-half, Tuffley continued to create chances and Rhodes went close to a second on the hour but his 1-on-1 went whistling past the post.

But it would not be long before Rhodes did find the net to give his side the lead for the first time, finishing past Cox to make it 2-1.

Pershore pressed for an equaliser but they could not find it and they slipped to a fourth league defeat of the season.
