PERSHORE Town put an end to their losing league run as they held on in the second-half to beat Mangotsfield United 2-1 in the Hellenic League Premier.

Josh Willis' goal inside the opening five minutes gave the visitors the perfect start as his left-footed strike nestled in the far corner.

Defender Jyrel Bojang scored for a second consecutive game when he lashed home from close range as Pershore made all the running in the opening 25 minutes.

The hosts made a bright start to the second period and Jadyn Crosbie halved the deficit seven minutes after the restart to pave the way for a challenging 40 minutes for The Plums.

But Lewis Marston's side dug deep and were able to hold on for the victory that ends a run of three league defeats in a row, a run stretching back to mid-October.

Whilst they have slipped down to 9th in the table, they are just three points off the play-off places and their form at the start of the campaign indicates they are capable of getting themselves back into those places before long.

Their next outing is on Saturday when they make the trip to fourth-placed Roman Glass St George, which will be another big test.
