PERSHORE Town threw away a two-goal lead before salvaging a late point at Slimbridge on Friday.

Josh Willis made it 2-0 with 25 minutes to play after Matt Reed's first-half opener, but Harrison Reeves scored either side of Ben Hands' equaliser to put Slimbridge into the lead during a blistering 15-minute spell.

But Clarke scored his sixth goal in his last four Pershore appearances in stoppage time to rescue a point for The Plums and keep them within touching distance of the play-off places.

Reed broke the deadlock 15 minutes into the contest when reacting quickest to Clarke's shot being well saved. Substitute Willis then scored with his first touch of the game in the 65th minute, racing onto a ball over the top and finishing well to make it 2-0.

But Slimbridge soon halved the deficit when Reeves' shot was deflected past Eddie Cox a couple of minutes later.

There was nothing lucky about the second goal, however. Hands fired into the top corner from 25 yards to bring Slimbridge level and now The Plums were right up against it.

And the visitors hardly had time to digest the equaliser before they suddenly found themselves behind. Reeves travelled into the box and found the bottom corner with a crisp finish to turn the game on it's head.

But just as it looked like Pershore were going to go home empty-handed, Willis' low ball into the box was flicked on by striker Clarke to rescue a point.

Lewis Marston's men take a pause from Hellenic League Premier action on Wednesday night when they make the short trip to Sixways to face manager-less Worcester Raiders in the Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup.

The Plums then have back-to-back home games over the Christmas period, hosting strugglers Thornbury Town on Saturday before a Boxing Day clash with in-form Hereford Pegasus.
