IT was an evening both to forget and remember for Pershore Town keeper Eddie Cox on Tuesday night.

The entertaining and popular shot-stopper played his 100th and final game for the club in their 5-2 Marsh Challenge Cup defeat to Worcester City before moving to London with work.

During his time at the club he has won five trophies in a hugely successful three years, including the Worcestershire Senior Cup and last season's Hellenic League Division One title.

He reflected on his time with great fondness: "I think getting pumped 5-2 probably makes it a bit less emotional," he joked at full-time on Tuesday. "But overall it has been a difficult evening, both before and after the game.

"The overwhelming emotion is gratuity. A lot of people have turned up and said thank you tonight and I have had lots of conversations with people over the years that I am extremely thankful for.

"It is goodbye for now but I am sure I will be back to cheer on the boys at some point in the near future.

"There have been plenty of ups in my time here; five trophies, lots of memories on the pitch but also plenty off it as well, it has been a really enjoyable three years.

"I have been commuting 45 minutes from my house for the three years and personal reasons have been the only thing keeping me here really. It's such a family environment and everyone is made to feel so welcome and it has been a pleasure to be a part of it."
