EVESHAM United returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win at Bideford on Saturday to keep their Southern League Division One South play-off hopes well on track.

The Robins, without a win since the end of January, were backed by a vocal group of travelling supporters and they made their presence felt in just the eighth minute of the game when Fred Willcox found Ethan Moran to squeeze a shot past Adam Seedhouse Evans at the near post.

Bideford tried to shake off the early set back but efforts from Alex Byrne and Finn Roberts both flew off target. Evesham, meanwhile, looked a constant threat on the counter-attack and they delivered the killer blow right on the stroke of half-time as Daniel Djurovic headed in all too easily from a Will Owens free kick.

Bideford improved in the second half but despite having most of the ball, were unable to seriously trouble Ben Taylor in the Evesham goal.

Substitute Lewis Hill looked to liven things up for the hosts as he shot just off target and Aaron  Taylor then forced his way through a number of blue shirts to find Josh Webber, but there were no takers for his ball into the box.

Another cross, this time from Hill, was unable to quite find a Bideford head in the middle and Matthew Buchan was just inches away from latching onto a good feed from Taylor.

Seedhouse Evans had to be alert to tip over a header and there was a brilliant challenge from Rob Farkins to deny the away side a certain third goal.

But despite their best efforts, Bideford could not prevent a fourth consecutive loss as Evesham won for the first time since the end of January to keep themselves firmly in the play-off picture.
